Once again this year, we will be having our Christmas Giving Tree program. Tags will be hung around the church for the individual gifts requested. Please consider taking one (or several!) to participate in this meaningful ministry. The four organizations that we partner with assist distressed, underprivileged or disabled children, adults, and families in our community:
Walking with Moms is a St. Elizabeth Ann Seton ministry developed to assist expecting and new parents in our community. The ministry works with parents in our parish and neighborhood to provide practical assistance that meets specific needs. These items and gift cards collected will be used by our coordinators to meet these needs.
Eastern State Hospital is a mental health hospital here in Lexington where many of the gifts we buy go to individuals who arrive for an inpatient stay, often unexpectedly, and have limited support from family or other areas.
Kentucky Refugee Ministry is new to our program this year. They work to resettle and welcome refugees and immigrants to our community. Their needs this year were to provide coats and other warm winter gear for 250 children who are supported through their program.
One Parent Scholar House is also new this year, and is an organization that helps single parents in our community achieve secondary education by providing affordable housing, early childhood education for children up to age five, and other comprehensive services for the entire family. The goal of these programs is to help the family be successful with their education and other endeavors. We are providing Christmas wish list support this year for many of the families served by OPSH. All gifts need to be returned to the church by Sunday, December 10th . Please firmly attach the tag from the wall to the gift. Walking with Moms gifts should not be wrapped but all others should be. Kathy Ponatoski leads this ministry for our parish.
