Building a United Interfaith Lexington through Direct action (BUILD) is an organization of 27 congregations located in Lexington, Kentucky. Through congregation-based community organizing, BUILD empowers congregations and individuals to join together to make long-lasting institutional changes in Lexington.  Each year's cycle begins with people sharing problems in House Meetings which are then discussed, prioritized, and researched in the following months.  The entire community is invited to participate in a very large meeting in the spring when public officials/decision-makers are asked to commit to resolving the public problems as identified and recommended through the BUILD process.

Catholic Action Center

The mission of the Catholic Action Center is providing a community of hospitality, safety, and acceptance for those looking for a path from the streets to a home, giving an opportunity for the community to reach out those who are disenfranchised, voiceless and left out of social service systems, and needing to experience the acceptance, accountability and love of a community while receiving the basic needs of food, shelter and connection to services.  At St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, we provide a hot breakfast on the 2nd Saturday of the month and many items are needed to feed approximately 150 residents.

Habitat for Humanity

Join seven other Lexington Catholic churches in building one home for a needy family each year. It takes about three months to complete the home with constructions beginning in August with completion in late October/early November. The ministry provides financial support and volunteers to build the house.

SPICE

SPICE assists parishioners with special needs to become actively involved in the life of the parish. This ministry is pastoral in nature; focusing on religious education, spiritual development and active participation in the church. The mission is to replace apathy and misunderstanding, with sensitivity welcoming and inclusion of persons with special needs or disabilities and for all to recognize the gifts that persons with special needs have to share with their faith community.

St. Vincent dePaul Society

A ministry of volunteers (and their children) who feel called to extend charitable friendship, provide face to face assistance to the poor or those with sudden need in Lexington homes and serve the retired poor at the store of Ballard Towers. Most members donate two hours of service and attend one organizing meeting per month.
